CES: AR/VR
We’ve taken a look at about 10% of the AR/VR section of CES 2024 and wanted to shout out a couple of quick highlights!
XReal — One of the OGs in the consumer AR space, XReals booth was packed with folks looking to try out their AR glasses. We got to try them out and were impressed with the fidelity of the virtual screen against all of the movement and visual noise of CES. DMGT would LOVE to review them at some point soon.
HaptX — Do you want your video games to slap you with haptics all across your body, HaptX brings this to VR and flat gaming. Our demo time with HaptX got up smiling with just how immersive it can be with something as simple as vibrations localized against different parts of your body. Craziest thing was how it created a sense of kickback when shooting.
My Arcade — Not everything was bleeding edge, we had some fun at My Arcade, which we’d call the dad-mode highlight thus far. My Arcade brings handhelds and mini tabletops of old school games from Capcom, Atari, and many others. Great gift for dads and uncles!
Stern Pinball — Analog is not dead, pinballs will live forever. Stern Pinball brought a ton of new old school machines, mostly for Jaws. They looked incredible and played very well. Only thing we’d love to see here is a 1:1 recreation of the Windows 95 plz and thank you.
